Accounting & Finance
Our Accounting and Finance courses boast a wide range of fantastic facilities including our state-of-the-art Business Pods and Financial Trading Rooms, which simulate real professional environments. By studying on our Accounting courses, you will also gain maximum ACCA exemption – nine professional papers, leaving you four papers away from gaining full ACCA qualification.
Art & Design
Study within the School of Art and Design,and you’ll gain access to a young and creative team of successful practitioners who regularly publish, design and exhibit nationally and internationally. And there are ample opportunities for you to showcase your own artistic talents at our curated Art and Design Degree Show
Business, Management & HRM
Study in the University of Bedfordshire Business School (UBBS) and you can benefit from our innovative Practice Weeks to complement your studies within Business, Management or HRM. These are designed to provide every one of our business students with an opportunity to develop essential sought-after skills, such as adaptability to a fast-paced workplace, as well as crucial creative problem solving, which is achieved through undertaking real-life business tasks.
Computer Science & Technology
Many of our Computer Science and Technology courses are accredited by industry – including BCS and IET. We have also forged links with industry, including companies such as 7Safe, Kuju, Gusto Games and Ninja Theory to name just a few; many of which come in to network with students and provide master-classes and guest speaker events. The department is also a Cisco academy, enabling us to offer certifications alongside your academic qualifications.
Education & Teaching
Through our Education and Teaching courses we offer opportunities to engage with prospective employers through placements across our 500 partnership schools, as well as in children’s centres, nurseries, youth clubs and voluntary work organisations. Due to the strong focus on work-based learning, many of our students secure graduate teaching positions upon completion of our courses.
English Language, Literature & Communication
Whether you want to study Language or Literature, we offer a range of courses which place a strong focus on your employability. Our popular Teaching English as a Foreign Language course enables students to train as a TEFL teacher as part of the course, and we also offer exciting opportunities for students to learn a new language alongside their academic qualifications.
Journalism & Communication
The media industry is constantly changing and you if want to enter it bang up-to-date then you’ll need to ensure you acquire the highly sought-after practical experience of working in radio studios, edit suites and newsrooms – luckily for you, our Journalism and Communication courses offer all of these fantastic facilities, enabling you to gain the real-world experience, knowledge and skills needed by modern journalists and communication professionals.
Law
Gaining practical experience is key when thinking of life beyond university. Here at Bedfordshire we offer ample opportunities to put your new found skills to the test. Our Law students are able to work in our Law Moot Court, and also within our Law Clinic, alongside academics, qualified lawyers and local advisers, on live cases to enhance your experience of legal practice. You can also gain an additional National Association of Licensed Paralegals (NALP) qualification on top of your Law Degree.
Life Sciences
Join the Department of Life Sciences and you’ll be able to refine your practical techniques in our state-of-the-art labs. And, for those studying Forensic Science, you’ll gain access to a range of fantastic facilities such as our scene of crime room; dust for fingerprints and swab for important evidence. Our Biomedical Science degree is accredited by the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) which provides you with an important advantage when seeking graduate employment.
Marketing, Tourism & Event Management
Studying Marketing, Tourism and Event Management offers many exciting opportunities. Previous students have secured work placements in a range of organisations from the Hilton London, to TUI Travel PLC. During Practice Weeks, you have opportunities to liaise with real businesses to overcome real business challenges. These essential business links, and practical, hands-on experience will ensure you’re highly employable by the time you complete your course.
Media Arts & Production
We have excellent industry links, providing you with valuable networks, and opportunities to gain work experience alongside your studies. Most of our lecturers have worked, or continue to work in broadcasting and film. Study one of our Media Courses are you’ll gain access to our industry-standard facilities, including a multi-camera TV studio, green screen and performance theatre to gain professional experience.
Nursing, Midwifery & Health
Our Nursing, Midwifery and Health course provide you with a balanced curriculum where you spend 50% of your time in practice and 50% in the University. Our strong links with healthcare providers means you can secure a local practice placement in Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire or Berkshire. You’ll benefit from state-of-the-art facilities including simulation labs with a fully functional theatre, ware and clinic environment, so you can tackle real-life scenarios in a safe and supportive setting.
Performing Arts
Our Performing Arts, Dance and Theatre related courses provide many exciting opportunities. You can gain access to our professional 280-seat theatre and dance studios, and develop a professional portfolio of work whilst you are studying. You will also benefit from on-campus professional dance, music and theatre performance through seasons of programmed work in our professionally equipped Theatre spaces, and will have access to workshops from visiting companies and artists.
Psychology
Our Psychology degrees have received British Psychological Society (BPS) accreditation and offers eligibility for the Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership, providing you with a degree qualification that employer’s value. Our courses provide you with access to a range of state-of-the-art facilities, and enable you to apply theory to real-life situations, ensuring that you receive an ideal balance of theory and practice throughout your studies.
Social Sciences
Study on one of our Social Sciences courses are you’ll gain the knowledge and skills needed for careers in the police, probation service, youth and community work, as well as caring and residential home management. You’ll also benefit from our research-informed teaching; with our research into child sexual exploitation being rated as “internationally excellent” and “world-leading” (REF 2014).
Sport Science & Physical Activity
Our Sport Science and Physical Activity students have access to our state-of-the-art Sport Science labs and gyms, which house a range of cutting-edge technical and scientific equipment to support your studies.We also offer a range of Sport Scholarships to develop and support talented students,as well as opportunities to gain additional, recognised professional qualifications alongside your academic qualification.
