A degree from the University of Cumbria is more than just a qualification. Our courses provide fulfilling university experiences and opportunities that will help you grow both personally and academically.
We have five academic institutes – each with its own specialist focus – that offer a range of flexible, multidisciplinary courses, helping you to kickstart an exciting career, no matter which field you want to enter.
Enjoy flexible study options
We want higher education to be accessible to everyone, which is why we provide a range of study options.
Bachelor (Honours) Degrees - Our undergraduate courses are usually three years of full-time study; however, we do offer top-up degrees (typically studied over two years) for those who have a HND or Foundation Degree.
Integrated Foundation Years - An alternative pathway into studying a degree is an Integrated Foundation Year course, which usually involves four years of full-time study to achieve an undergraduate qualification. This can be the perfect stepping stone if you don't know which degree is right for you, or you don't have the right qualifications to enrol on an Honours course.
Degree Apprenticeships - A degree apprenticeship is a fantastic way of achieving a professional qualification whilst earning a salary. What's more, you won’t pay tuition fees! A Level 6 degree apprenticeship (equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree) usually takes between three and five years to complete.
Learn from expert lecturers
All our courses are led by industry experts who draw on their experience of working in real-world environments to deliver programmes that are innovative, inspirational, inclusive, and accessible. Each academic is passionate about their subject and will provide tailored support and guidance to encourage confidence and personal growth.
Gain valuable experience with work-based placements
We have partnerships with a wide range of local, national and global companies, meaning many of our degree programmes offer experiential learning modules and opportunities for work placements. Explore potential career paths, gain valuable work experience, and develop transferable skills for the future with companies like BAE Systems, the NHS, Northern Powerhouse, and the National Trust.
