Facilities and support

We offer an excellent learning environment, which together with a wide range of world-class courses allows you to pursue your career goals and progress in your ambitions.

Our facilities are tailored to the needs of your course and the demands of the industry, whether you need a fully immersive mock hospital ward or the latest high-spec machine required for engineering parts.

When you’re not studying, our campuses provide plenty of options to keep you happy and healthy: from quiet study spaces and areas for relaxation or prayer, to sports halls and shared social areas where you can meet with fellow students to get the most of your university experience.

Our new platform, WLV Student Life Connect, is a counselling, information and advice service offering support for issues arising at university, home, or work. It is a free, confidential, independent and impartial source of support.

Many of our courses are based on a foundation of partnership with local NHS trusts, professional bodies or high-profile industry partners, ensuring your studies are directly relevant to the industry you’re working in.

We offer a wide range of careers support and advice, including specific information, advice, and job opportunities for academic and non-academic sectors, including teaching, research, and enterprise.

If you have a great idea and are looking to set up your own business, our business start-up support includes specialist workshops, match-funded grants, business consultancy and the potential to access professional office space free of charge for up to 12 months.

Staff expertise

Our university lecturers have been praised in our student reviews for being friendly and approachable.

Many have notable achievements in their field, are active in research, or have specific industry links that bring benefits directly to their students. According to the latest Research Excellence Framework (REF 2021), more than half of our research is judged as internationally excellent or world-leading.

Our award-winning support services cover every aspect of your student life – whatever additional help you would like to find, we aim to provide.

We have specialist teams providing tailored student support and wellbeing services, offering help for your mental health and wellbeing; discussing disabilities or specific learning differences; spiritual conversation and general support through our chaplaincy; seeking advice on funding and financial support, and more.
