When you join Southampton, you're joining a community of over 25,000 students. Our people are our University; they’re at the heart of everything we do. Everyone is accepted for who they are and is supported, respected, listened to and valued.

You’ll automatically become a member of our Students’ Union, SUSU, one of the largest in the country. Run for students, by students, SUSU’s purpose is to help you make friends, support you during your degree, and give you a voice in the University and the wider community.

With over 350 clubs and societies there’s something for everyone, from beekeeping and campaigning to performing arts and mountaineering. SUSU run regular events, from roller discos to karaoke in the campus pub, Stag's, and day trips to the Jurassic coast.

We have one of the biggest Athletic Unions in the country. You can choose from over 90 different sports to get involved with, from kitesurfing and sailing to basketball or bouldering.

We’re investing £34m in our sports facilities, with a focus on inclusion. Our new sports extension opens in the summer, including a new Technogym with over 200 stations, climbing and bouldering wall and dedicated spin studio.

Our 260-seat student-run cinema, Union Films, shows a huge variety of movies, with tickets starting at just £4.

If you’re on Highfield campus for a late night study session in the library or on a night out at SUSU, the safety bus will drop you home for free - even if you're based at our Winchester campus.
